The New Melle Chamber of Commerce held its 28th Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, April 1. Despite the cold and windy morning, 217 children registered for the Egg Hunt at the New Melle VFW Post 5651. The egg hunts were held in three age divisions, and an adult hunt benefited The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

During registration, kids and adults enjoyed hot beverages and donuts provided by the NMFPD, and a ring toss game sponsored by the New Melle Scouts was a big hit. The Easter Bunny stopped by to visit with the kids, and Gerti the Goat also made an appearance, all decked out for Easter.

After the hunt, kids opened their eggs to see if they had won a prize and attendance prizes were awarded. Hundreds of prizes were given away, including six bikes, thanks to generous donations from The New Melle Chamber of Commerce, its members and other area businesses, individuals and organizations.

This event takes many hours of planning and preparation and hundreds of volunteer hours, thanks to the Chairs of the event, Maureen Blondin and Amy Schneider, and thanks to all the countless members donating their time and money to give back to such a well-deserving community. A special thank you to the New Melle VFW for hosting the event this year, to Jordyn Burbes, Queen Candidate, for volunteering to play the Easter Bunny and to the sponsors listed below the pictures.
