Officer Involved Shooting in Weldon Spring April 24
SCCPD News Release: Officer Involved Shooting (April 24, 2023)
St. Charles County Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one man dead. The incident occurred around 12:39 a.m. in the area of Siedentop Rd. and Technology Dr. in Weldon Spring, MO.
Officers called out a traffic stop on a vehicle containing two individuals. Approximately five minutes into the traffic stop, one of the individuals attempted to flee on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to apprehend the suspect, who began resisting the officers. The suspect then brandished a firearm and one of the officers then discharged his service weapon, striking the suspect. No officers were injured.
Officers rendered first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived, who transported the suspect to the hospital. At the hospital, the suspect was pronounced deceased. The deceased suspect is Tracy E. Hayes (40), of St. Charles, MO.
The St. Charles County Critical Incident Response Team; a multi-jurisdictional unit of investigators, is actively investigating this incident. No other information is available at this time.
