Saturday at the Augusta Harvest Festival

The Augusta Harvest Festival was in full swing on Saturday, September 16, and downtown Augusta was buzzing with activity.
On the streets of Augusta, Laura Unleashed with paulO and The Texas Giants entertained the crowd with live music. The Town Square is under renovation, so all of Saturday’s activities were held on the streets. A fun-run, parade and pie contest were held and the winners of the days events were announced including the winners of the scarecrow contest. There were activities for the kids, including a bounce house and slide, horse rides and more. Gay Eskew hosted a booth to enter photos in the “Best of Augusta” photo contest, and plenty of food and drink to enjoy the beautiful day.

The big winners of the Augusta Harvest Festival Parade were the vintage Augusta Fire Truck, winning for the "Best of Augusta." The "Most Humorous" was awarded to the Augusta Elementary PTO for their float of “pirates” promoting the Augusts PTO Dinner Auction. The "Best of Transportation" went to the Wine Club for their tour Jeep entry.

There were nine entries in the Scarecrow Contest this year, the winners were: 1st place the Moseley Family, 2nd place Kevin and Susie Snyders, and 3rd place Nancy Kinsey.

The Pie Contest was a big hit this year with 20 entries and raising $743. The Grand Champion Pie winner was the Coconut Cream Pie baked by Heidi Bohrmann. See photos for other winners. Melissa Smith, the coordinator of the Pie Contest, would like to thank her family who has been helping her with the contest, pie walk and pie sale for the last several years— Trey, Sam, Kayra, Andrea, Courtney, Caylee, Caroline. Melissa would like to extend a special thank you to the judges, especially Susan Fifer, head judge for many years.

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to everyone who participated in the day's events.

All proceeds from the Augusta Harvest Festival go to the Greater Augusta Chamber of Commerce and are used to support the town. Proceeds from this year will help support the rebuilding of the Town Square and playground.
