Hunt for Hunger Kicks-Off the 2023 Season

Deer season is fast approaching, and the Hunt for Hunger Program is preparing for another successful year. For the past 7-years, David Neier, a sophomore at Francis Howell High School, has worked to broaden the awareness and distribution of venison throughout western St. Charles County food pantries. Share the Harvest and Operation Food Search of St. Charles made this possible.

After processing, the venison is distributed to a growing number of local food pantries in our area. Pantries that had never received venison are truly grateful to share this with struggling families in their communities.

Thanks to the generous support of Share the Harvest, the participating processors, and our local hunters, Hunt for Hunger has delivered over 35,000 pounds of venison over the past 7-years. Unfortunately, the need is greater than ever.

Statistics from the Million Meals Campaign show that 1 in 4 children in the St. Louis area do not know where their next meal is coming from. Several pantries are seeing a record number of families coming in for help. One local pantry feeds 60 families per week, and the numbers are still growing. Over 11000 individuals are receiving help each month. Food insecurity is REAL!!! The goal for Hunt For Hunger is 5,000 pounds this year. To help reach this goal, Wright City Meat Processing is joining the effort and expanding the effort into Warren County.

Please help David and The Hunt for Hunger Program hit their target by donating your field-dressed deer to either one of the following locations.
