On November 14, during the City of New Melle BOA meeting, a site plan for a new location of Peoples Savings Bank was unanimously approved. The new building will be located on the vacant lot at Hwy D, Peter Street and Hwy Z. (Near the water tower.)
Construction is set to begin in December and finish by the fall of 2024, weather permitting. The new bank has a modern design inside and out. Features will include drive-thru service, an ATM, and plenty of parking with two entrances.
The interior design will differ from the current New Melle Branch, with extensive lighting and new teller pods instead of traditional teller lines. In the future, the bank has a vision that Customer Service Representatives will become Universal Bankers, meaning they can help you with most of your banking needs without waiting to see several people. PSB recently completed a similar build in Troy, which has been well received.
Peoples Savings Bank President & CEO Mark Laune said, “As we embark on building a new state-of-the-art branch in New Melle, we're not just expanding our physical presence; we're deepening our roots in the community we proudly serve. This investment reflects our dedication to providing an enhanced banking experience, fostering local prosperity, and ensuring we continue to be a valued partner in the community's growth journey.”
Peoples Savings Bank currently has 11 locations and ATMs located throughout the area. They are frequent supporters of the community, sponsoring, participating, and volunteering at events and fundraisers. To learn more about PSB, visit www.ourpsb.com.
