650 paddlers will race in the Missouri American Water MR340 to support river preservation

On Tuesday, July 12, roughly 650 paddlers will launch from Kaw Point Park in Kansas City to begin the 17^th Annual Missouri American Water Missouri River 340 (MR340) river race. Participants will paddle 340 miles across the state in this endurance race with the goal of crossing the finish line in St. Charles. 

In these trying times, the Augusta area churches and organizations raised $1,065 in cash donations and collected 22 large boxes of nonperishable food items. These donations will support the Augusta Community Outdoor Food Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul Pantry in New Melle and The Southern Warren & St. Charles County Food Pantry in Marthasville.

On June 5, 2022, the Historic Augusta History Museum was filled with incredible photos, treasures and interesting stories shared by many for the 1st Annual Finding Augusta's Roots-Show and Tell. What a great day! Some of the contributors were: Ellen Knoernschild, Antone Finder, Pat Baravik, Brenda Ford, Jeff Toedebush, David Klaas, Daniel Hollander, Judy Renner and Randal Oaks.

Friends of St. Charles City-County Library are seeking volunteers for the Summer Book Fair on August 5 – 7, 2022, at the Family Arena, 2002 Arena Parkway, St. Charles.

The New Melle of Chamber of Commerce recognized Maureen Blondin on June 2 at The Quarry Wine Garden at the NMCC Scholarship Awards Banquet. She was presented with  a Community Service award. This award started last year to recognize a member of the NMCC who has served the greater New Melle community and the Chamber of Commerce. Dianne Sudbrock presented Maureen with the award and shared the following about Maureen and her family.

Effective with the July 2022 issue, Floyd and Kathy Miller take over ownership and full editorial responsibilities of the Boone Country Connection. Floyd and Kathy have been involved with the paper behind the scenes since the very first issue was published in July 2000.

In short, the answer is yes. NMFPD wants to make sure that our residents feel confident that we are investing in a building that will last for decades and serve the needs of the community as effectively and efficiently as possible. The New Melle Fire Protection District has had many challenges along the way, with the current economy being number one on the list.

The New Melle Festival Parade kicked off the festival's final day on Saturday, June 11. Serving as Grand Marshall this year was Kevin Armour, Principle of Daniel Boone Elementary.

The 69th Annual New Melle Queen Pageant was held Friday, June 10, during the New Melle Festival. Maggie Molitor was crowned the 2022 New Melle Festival Queen and was also chosen as Miss Congeniality; First Alternate was Briana Welge and Second Alternate was Calais Smith.

The New Melle Festival Baby Contest was held on Saturday, June 11. Thank you to Ages and Stages Learning Center and Megan Stevener with EXP Realty for the sponsorship.

Family Night at the 2022 New Melle Festival was a great evening with temperatures around 77 degrees and low humidity. There was a wide variety of events for the whole family.

Family Night at the New Melle Festival kicked off on Thursday, June 9, and one of the highlights of the evening was The Little Miss & Mister Contest in the NMSR Banquet Hall. The event was sponsored by the New Melle Festival Queen Pageant candidates.

Please join the Wentzville Community Historical Society (WCHS) for the next General Membership meeting on Tuesday, June 21. The meeting will be held at the Wentzville Community Club, 500 W. Main, Wentzville.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to the Daniel Boone Gun Club and the Daniel Boone 4-H Club for all the hard work to make our fundraiser a great success. We feel so blessed to live in a community that has stepped up and supported my mom and dad, and Rich and me through this unexpected journey. Dear Friends and Neighbors,
It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that “Monsignor” Jackson took his last breath on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Jackson was our parish dog, and we will always have the beautiful memories we all made together. He was such a good dog, and I was blessed to be with him in his final goodbye.

This year, nine phenomenal candidates are participating in the 69th consecutive New Melle Festival Queen Pageant Program.

The 2022 New Melle Festival Queen Candidates were excited to host the eighth annual Kickin' It for Cancer Kickball Tournament on Friday, May 20. A total of fourteen teams registered and came out to play to support the cause.

On Tuesday morning, May 24, 2022, the Wentzville American Legion Post 323 dedicated a 12’ x 18’ foot mural honoring all who served in the Vietnam War effort. This dedication coincided with the annual Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Run for the Wall in Washington D.C. Over 500 riders arrived in Wentzville Monday evening and attended the morning dedication before beginning the next leg of their journey.

If you were a child of the 50s or 60s you came of age during a phenomenal period in music history — the birth of rock and roll. It’s probably safe to say that most people from that era still love the music of their youth, now officially known as “The Oldies.”

May is the time when many of us start thinking about summer vacations. Some might even be planning to take to the road in an RV. Coincidentally, some reptiles are taking to the roads also, except their RVs are “built-in.” These critters are Missouri’s box turtles.
The two species of box turtles found in our area are the three-toed and the ornate box turtles. The three-toed variety is the most common. The sturdy, domed shells on their backs make natural RVs. The turtles can simply tuck inside when it’s time to sleep. As a bonus, these lucky creatures don’t even have to set up a tent or find hookups.

Aisling Med Spa, owned by Lauren Tripp, MSN, FNP-C, has opened a new location in the New Melle Town Square (previously occupied by the New Melle Clinic) at 30 West Highway D, Suite 201. Aisling Med Spa opened at the beginning of April and plans to have its grand opening in early summer.

On Saturday, April 30 the New Melle Fire Protection District (NMFPD) held its Annual Awards Banquet at New Melle Sports and Rec. Chief Dan Casey opened the evening with a toast and a moment of silence to all the fallen brothers and heroes.
