The New Melle Fire Protection District (NMFPD) is proud to announce it has improved its ISO Public Protection Classification from Class 5/5Y to Class 4/4X.

You’re venturing out during a dark night in October. It’s the month of Halloween. Your mind may be swirling with thoughts of haunted houses, ghost stories heard around the campfire, or the latest scary movie you’ve seen. You stop. Something in the back of your mind tells you to shine your light, over there. And suddenly, in the darkness, two eerie eyes are shining back at you! What’s happening?

The Quarry in New Melle has opened under the ownership of Matt Meier and Rob Roddy. Along with their enthusiastic team, they invite everyone in the community to experience the refreshed menus and atmosphere, with thoughtfully updated spaces inside and out.

NEW MELLE, MO – In a heartfelt ceremony filled with tradition and pride, 15-year-old Joshua Goetsch of Troop 856 was officially awarded the prestigious Eagle Scout rank on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

On Saturday, September 6, the streets of Marthasville were lined with hundreds of vehicles on display during the Festival In The Ville and Car and Bike Show.

The 2025 Annual Augusta Harvest Festival was held on Friday and Saturday, September 19 and 20, in Augusta. Both evenings featured dinners offering gourmet dining and local wine at Honey Bee Vineyards and Schultz Haus Vineyards.

We want to thank everyone involved in the Celebration of Life. Our family was completely overwhelmed by the sheer generosity, organization, and unwavering support shown by the New Melle community.

By Kathy Miller - The Mill in New Melle, in our lifetimes, has forever been visible from all directions as you enter the center of town.  That changed on Friday, September 5, 2025. The last of the Mill came down after 167 years. Once a crucial part of the area, the Mill itself had not been in operation for years. It served as storage for the Straatmann Feed Store.

Submitted by 4H Reporter Alex Bollman: The Boone Country 4-H hopes you were able to attend the St. Charles County Fair, which took place from July 23 to 27. Boone Country 4-H won in many categories this year, with multiple winners ranging from livestock to baked goods and poster projects.

 

MoDOT has released a new map of Missouri, unveiled by Gov. Kehoe at the Missouri State Fair in August. MoDOT highlights some features of the 2025-2026 Official State Highway Map:

On August 1, 2024, the St. Charles City-County Library partnered with the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank to provide families in need with a monthly supply of diapers.

By Kathy Miller - In July of this year, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Melle merged with Immanuel Lutheran Church and School in Wentzville to form a single church with two campuses.

On what might seem an unrelated topic, have you ever wondered how the founders of the settlement that would become St. Louis chose this spot? The answer is at least partly in the insistent whine of that mosquito.

Gail donated the items in honor of her late husband, Scott Jones, a retired fireman with the Creve Coeur Fire Protection District.

Nature spends half of its time in night, and that means a lot is happening after the sun goes down. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites you to see how the other half lives . . . the nocturnal half, that is.

Letter To The Editor: “City of New Melle, You Can Do Better In Regard To The Proposed ADA Trail”

Regarding the proposed crosswalk at the Library on Hwy Z, this is dangerous and a bad decision. The number of cars turning right into Fiddlestix (residents and Library patrons) is huge at times.

Rev. Amanda Gastreich joined Shiloh UMC on July 1, 2025. Originally from St. Louis, she has spent the past four years serving in Eldon, MO. She enjoys yoga and the water, and has built a collection of about 120 board games!

St. Paul’s Lutheran in New Melle and Immanuel Lutheran in Wentzville have joined together to form a single ministry with two campuses. They want to assure everyone that St. Paul’s in New Melle will stay open, and their campus will continue to play a vital role in the community. With this merger, St. Paul’s will have the ability to grow and expand.

One hundred and eight high school students participated in Missouri’s 62nd annual Missouri Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., June 15-21.

From in-state college institutions to those across the country, 80 local students will be benefiting from scholarships provided through the Operation Round Up program.
