The City of New Melle Board of Adjustments is accepting applications for new members. The Board of Adjustments only meets when necessary, usually once or twice a year. It consists of a minimum of five (5) members who hear requests for variances of the building codes, zoning, or other property-related issues. The Board is a “recommendation only” board and would make recommendations to the Planning and Zoning Commission or the Board of Aldermen to either accept or deny the applications.
The City of New Melle Planning and Zoning Commission needs additional members. The Planning and Zoning Commission meets monthly on the first Tuesday at 7:00 pm. It will review and make recommendations on rezoning requests, conditional use permits, amendments to the zoning ordinances, applications for site plan approvals, recommendations on the Comprehensive Plan and sign applications to ensure applicants are following regulations.
Please consider volunteering for these much-needed positions with the City of New Melle and becoming involved in its future decision-making process. Applicants must live within the City Limits of New Melle and have been a city resident for at least one year prior. For more information or questions, contact the City Clerk, Marcia Gay at 636-828-4807.
