St. Charles County Personal Property Notices of Assessment Change On the Way

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO – County Residents are starting to receive their 2024 Notices of Personal Property Assessment Change. The notices affect only personal property—not real estate—and include such items as cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, mobile homes, and commercial machinery. More than 38,400 notices are arriving in mailboxes across St. Charles County, sent mostly to residents who recently declared a new vehicle or had the assessed values on their current personal property go up since the original assessment form was sent in January.

Personal property tax bills based on the assessment are not due until the end of the year. “The purpose of this mailing is to give everybody a chance to look it over and make sure the list we have of your personal property is accurate,” says County Assessor Travis Welge. “We want to give you time here in the middle of the year to update your list and to appeal the value within the statutory time frame if you so choose.” Taxpayers can visit the St. Charles County Assessor’s Office online at sccmo.org/Assessor for more information and frequently asked questions regarding personal property and appeal procedures. Residents also can contact the Assessor’s office for assistance at 636-949-7420.
