Dollar General has submitted a site plan to the New Melle City Engineer and a building plan to the New Melle Building Inspector for review. Once those reviews are complete, the plans are expected to come before P&Z and the Board of Aldermen for Approval.
If approved, the store will be located at 4711 Hwy. Z (next to the Ambulance District), on a parcel that is already zoned for commercial retail, so no rezoning hearing is expected. If the submitted documents comply with the city’s codes, the plans will most likely be approved and the required permits issued. The next P&Z meeting is scheduled for Feb. 6. The next Board of Aldermen meeting is Jan. 13. It is unknown at this time if the reviews will be completed n time for the matter to be discussed at those meetings.
