The Hyman H.Kaye rezoning application #RZ19-14 (Oakview Farms Estates) for 25 3-acre lots off Foristell Road is tabled until at least the Feb. 10 St. Charles County Council meeting. Watch for posted agendas on at www.sccmo.org.
Another proposal, RZ19-16, is for 28 3-acre lots on 91.98 acres on the south side of Meinershagen Road, at the intersection of Meinshagen and South Point Prairie. The County staff and P&Z have recommended approval. The staff analysis said, “The surrounding area is a mix of differnt lot sizes ranging from approximately 1 acre in size up to more than 100 acres,” and said there are multiple 3-acre lots along Meinershagen and South Point Prairie Roads. It also states that the area is slated for 3-acres lot sizes in the 2030 Master Plan.
Some letters of opposition have been received opposing the 3-acre lot size, citing that the current master plan (2025) calls for this area to remain rural, with 5-acre lot sizes; that 3-acres lots are not sufficient to support septic systems because the “plastic clay” soil prevalent in the area does not “perculate” well enough; that 3-acre lots would increase existing soil erosion issues with the property; that current infrastructure cannot adequately support the increased traffic, and more.
The rezoning application is scheduled to be introduced at the Feb. 10 County Council meeting. Watch for the posted agenda at www.sccmo.org.
County Councilman Joe Brazil said attendance at meetings makes a difference and encouraged those with opinions on this and any other matters that come before the Council to show up in addition to writing letters.
