The City of New Melle held its regular monthly Board of Aldermen meeting on Tuesday, November 1, at 6:00 p.m. In attendance were Mayor Steve Burt, Aldermen - Bradley, Schneider, Goodman and Karrenbrock, City Attorney Steve Martin and City Clerk Marcia Gay.
INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCESBILL #480 – ORDINANCE 465 – An ordinance of the City of New Melle, MO, calling for a Municipal Election on April 4, 2023, for the purpose of electing certain municipal officials. Bill 480 was approved and became Ordinance 465.
ENGINEERING REPORTReview Bids for Tree Trimming Contract.One bid was submitted for the Tree Trimming Contract, which was awarded to King Contracting. The City will discuss with King Contracting the city limits and expects work to start immediately.
Review Bids for Utility Excavating and/or Emergency Service Contract.There was one bid submitted for this contract, and was awarded to Karrenbrock Excavating. Alderman Karrenbrock recused herself from this vote, she has no ownership in this company.
Review Lombardo Homes' Latest Plat Proposal. Lombardo Homes provided a plat proposal for annexation to the City, but has not submitted an Application for Voluntary Annexation or an Application for Re-Zoning. No further action by the Board of Aldermen can be taken until the correct paperwork and procedures are followed by Lombardo Homes.
Peter Street.Work on Peter Street should start in mid-November. Monthly updates will be provided.
OLD BUSINESSAbsolute Computer Solutions will clean up the City computer for a one-time fee and then provide monthly maintenance and antivirus software for $20/month. Absolute Computer Solutions initially sold the current system to the City and is familiar with the applications used. The Board approved this proposal, and the City Clerk will move forward with the work.
NEW BUSINESSDiscussion for City Christmas Decorations and Placement.The City needs to get the Christmas Decorations out of storage and place the decorations by the light poles for Ameren to come and put up the lights free of charge. A discussion will take place in December about the condition of the decorations and decide if the City should purchase new ones with LED lights.
Set a Work Session to review the 2023 Budget.
A date was set for the work session for the 2023 budget and will be on Tuesday, November 29, at 6 p.m. at the New Melle City Hall.
The New Melle Chamber of Commerce will have its Country Christmas and Tree Lighting Saturday, November 26, at New Melle Sports and Rec beginning at 3:30 p.m.
The city will provide 300 cookies and punch – the City donated the cookies and punch last year as well.
The next Board of Aldermen Meeting is Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at City Hall, 145 Almeling St., at 7 p.m. The November Meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
