On Tuesday, November 14 at 6 p.m. the Board of Adjustment will hold a Public Hearing for two variance requests and at 7 p.m. the New Melle Board of Aldermen meeting will be held at City Hall. The BOA tentative agenda is below the requests for variances.

Notice is hereby given that the City of New Melle, Missouri, will conduct a Public Hearing before the Board of Adjustment on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., at City Hall, 145 Almeling Street, New Melle, Missouri, concerning the following Variance Request.

REQUEST FOR VARIANCE

Property Location: 120 Peter St, New Melle, MO, Part of Lot 9 of the Town of New Melle, T46N, R1E Section 26
Reason for the Variance Request: Requesting a variance for setback requirements.

A request to move the front building set-back 10 feet toward Peter Street (north) to match the existing distance from Peter Street as the residence at 3679 Mill Street (the corner of Mill St. and Peter St.). Also, a request to move the building set-back 5 feet (east) on the east set-back to alleviate the proposed driveway constriction.

Property Location: 3600 Mill Street, New Melle, MO. Part of Lots 8 & 10 of the City of New Melle, T46N, R1E Section 26

Reason for the Variance Request: Requesting a variance for setback requirements. The subject parcel and buildings were established 143 years prior to the current setback requirements. The current setbacks adopted affect all sides of the property. The existing structures have reached the end of their useful life and need to be reconstructed. The current setbacks create a hardship related to the buildable area. Consideration is requested to allow construction of new buildings that are not any closer to existing property lines than the existing buildings.
