Librarians often joke that summer is the busiest time of the year; between beach reads, schools being out, families traveling on vacation, and our annual Summer Challenge, there is a lot going on. But this September is about to blow June and July out of the water!

Save the date for the Tom Shaw Foundation Freedom Walk on Sunday, October 11. The walk starts at 10:30 a.m. at Good News Brewing on the Katy Trail. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., and the opening ceremony begins at 10 a.m.

On October 24, Immaculate Heart of Mary in New Melle, located at 8 W Hwy D, will host a Trivia Night. Celebrate a fun, spooky evening in the Grand Hall, sponsored by the Marian Council. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with trivia starting at 6:30 p.m.

The Augusta Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) will host its 14th Annual Dinner Auction on Saturday, November 7, at The Harmonie, 5333 Hackman Rd, Augusta (formerly the Augusta American Legion Hall).

The Choral Arts Singers are resuming fall rehearsals ahead of our holiday concerts in early December. If you love to sing, come try us out. No auditions required.

The New Melle Chamber of Commerce (NMCC) invites current members and those interested in joining to attend its next monthly meeting on October 1. Starting in October, meetings will be held at the NMFPD Station #1, 45 Foristell Rd, on the first Thursday of each month. Networking begins at 7 a.m., followed by the meeting at 7:30 a.m.

On Friday, October 2, New Melle Sports and Rec (NMSR) and the New Melle Chamber of Commerce (NMCC) will host a combined golf tournament at Warrenton Golf Course, with tee-off at 8 a.m. Registration is now open.   

On Friday, October 2, the Marthasville Community Club will host its Chicken and Fish Dinner at 601 1st Street from 4 to 7 p.m.

Join Immaculate Conception Church, 5912 Hwy 94 S, Augusta, for its annual 65th Turkey and Ham Dinner on October 4 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The American Red Cross will host a New Melle Community blood drive at New Melle Sports and Rec, 4700 Hwy Z, on Wednesday, October 28, from 12 to 5 p.m.

On Sunday, September 27, join St. Vincent de Paul Parish-Dutzow, 13495 S Hwy 94, for its annual Fall Festival from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
