MoDOT to close lanes on I-70 and I-64 for utility location work as part of Improve I-70 program

The Missouri Department of Transportation will close lanes on Interstate 64 and Interstate 70 to locate underground utilities for the Improve I-70 Project #2. All work is weather permitting.

Crews will close the left lane of westbound I-64 between Route K and Interstate 70 Monday, June 10 through Thursday, June 13, 5 a.m. to noon daily.

This closure is in preparation for a I-64 widening project to add a third lane between the I-70/I-64 interchange and Route K. This project is included in the Improve I-70 Project #2.

In addition, the following lane closures will also affect sections of I-70 in St. Charles and Warren Counties:

Crews will close the left lane on westbound I-70 between Wentzville Parkway and the Warren County line on Friday, June 14, and Monday, June 17 through Wednesday, June 19, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Crews will close the left lane or right shoulder on westbound I-70 between the St. Charles County line and Route MM in Warrenton on Thursday, June 20, Friday, June 21 and Monday, June 24 through Friday, June 28, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily.

The Improve I-70 Project #2 covering the eastern portion of I-70 between Warrenton and Wentzville is tentatively set for bid in late 2024. Construction is tentatively set to take place 2025-2028.

Missouri’s FY2024 budget from the General Assembly, signed into law by Governor Parson, provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue for the costs to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
