Work has begun on the Route 61 safety improvements between Wentzville and Flint Hill. The work includes building a new interchange at Hwy. P /Peine Road; with a bridge over U.S. Route 61; new on and off ramps, removal of the median crossovers at Route P and Peine Road, and a roundabout. Three other median access crossings will be converted to right-in/right-out access only: Timber Trace Drive, Grothe Road, and Granville Drive North and South.
Median cable devices or some type of barrier have also been funded in some locations from I-70 to south of Moscow Mills.
Other improvement projects between Peine Road and Troy have only been partially funded at this time. Those that have been funded are in Lincoln County: Elimination of median traffic crossings at John Creech, Crossroads, Raceway/Himmel Road, and Auto Sales, with deceleration lanes at John Creech and Raceway/Himmel.
Per the MoDOT website, improvements at Hwy. W, McHugh Road, North Point Prairie/Farris, and Dietrich Road are not yet funded.
