The New Melle Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce this year’s scholarship recipients: Abby Tshannen, Sarah Bellm, Sheldon Cross, and Darby Schmidt.
Each student received a $1000 scholarship, funded by the annual golf tournament, now held in partnership with New Melle Sports and Recreation. (This year’s tournament is Aug. 4 Click here for information on this year's tournament)
Abby Tshannen will be a freshman at Truman State University where she will major in biology with the goal of becoming a microbiologist.
Sarah Bellm will also be a freshman at Truman State University. She has not decided on a specific major but will be focusing her studies on math and chemistry.
Sheldon Cross graduated from Francis Howell High School in 2015 and this fall will transfer credits earned at St. Charles Community College to Missouri University of Science and Technology at Rolla where he will study Mechanical Engineering. He hopes to someday design cars.
Darby Schmidt attends Kansas State University where she is pursuing a degree in agribusiness with minors in animal science and sales. She is currently completing an internship in grain origination sales with Cargill in Kearney, NE.
