Augie Johnson, 14 of Defiance, has been invited to play in the Inaugural St. Louis Junior Invitational Golf Championship to be held June 13-14 at Norwood Hills Country Club in St. Louis. The championship will feature a young men’s and young lady’s division and feature 36 holes of stroke play.
Tee off is 7:30 AM both days. Following the posting of the last official scores of the championship, an awards ceremony will be held, not only presenting the winners with their respective trophies, but both winners of each division will be presented the championship sport coat, in a Masters’ like setting.
Live, unofficial scoring will be available on-line throughout each day of the championship, noting the hole-by-hole results of each player and the overall leaderboard for both the young men’s and young lady’s divisions.
Organized by Bob Phillips and Jim McLaughlin, the golf championship is an “Invitational” only. The girl’s division will feature 27 players ages 14-18 from 22 different golf courses, public and private. The boy’s division will feature 45 boys, from 26 different golf courses.
Recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard as a registered, ranked championship, and endorsed by the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association, the St Louis Inter-Club Junior Golf Association, the Gateway Junior PGA, the Accelerated Golf Tour and the Little People’s Golf Championship, the St Louis Junior Invitational is on course to becoming one of the most sought after junior golf championships for years to come.
