Ida M. (Kruger) Gerdiman


Ida Marie Gerdiman née Kruger of Defiance, Missouri, passed away on February 16, 2024, at the age of 87.

She was the beloved wife of Carl Gerdiman. She is survived by her two daughters, Julie (Steve) Loika of Defiance, MO; Vicki Coday of Murfreesboro, TN; and one grandchild, Nathan (Sarah). Ida was preceded in death by her father, John Kruger, and her mother, Anita Kruger née Brakensiek.

Ida was a Boone-Duden Historical Society charter member and was very passionate about local history. She helped with genealogy and research to preserve local family cemeteries throughout St. Charles County. She was instrumental in assisting the St. Charles County chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in researching and preserving local burial sites of Revolutionary War families.

Ida was a member of Friedens Peace United Church of Christ. She served as Choir Director, Vacation Bible School Music Leader, Sunday School Teacher and Kindermusik Instructor. She enjoyed the music and all the children. Ida was a Girl Scout leader for her daughter's troops and helped deliver many boxes of cookies. Ida was always the happiest when she could be outdoors on her beloved farm, working with her garden and flowers. She always welcomed any stray cats or dogs that needed a home into her life. Ida was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral: Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville.
Interment: Bethany UCC Cemetery, 1533 Schluersburg Rd., Augusta, MO 63332.
Memorials: In honor of Ida, donations may be made payable to: Bethany Cemetery Fund or Boone-Duden Historical Society.
