Mary Ann (née Simon) Vehige

Mary Ann Vehige (née Simon), of Foristell, MO, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the age of 80.

She was born on October 9, 1943, in St. Charles, MO, to the late John and Ethel (née Eilers) Simon. Mary Ann was the loving wife of the late Charles A. Vehige. Devoted mother of Kim (Greg) Spear of Foristell, MO; Tom (Kelly) Vehige of Wentzville, MO; Chuck (Eileen) Vehige of Wright City, MO; Melissa (Michael) Love of Truxton, MO; and Kurt Vehige of Rocky Mount, MO; son-in-law, Ray Reininger of Foristell, MO; dear Grandmother of Karla (Adam), Mark, Rachel, Eric, Cameron, Colin, Carson, Elizabeth (Zach), Andy, Daniel, David, Whitney (Jeff), Cortlyn, Shane, Nash, Reagan, Rachael, and Jacob; Great Grandmother to five beautiful great-granddaughters, Charley, Nora, Evelyn, Adelaide, and Ameila; two special Grand-dogs, Frankie and Bear; sister of Daniel (Judy) Simon of St. Charles, MO; Richard (Evelyn) Simon of Portage Des Sioux, MO; Carol Boschert of St. Paul, MO; Jane (Dennis) Wappelhorst of St. Charles, MO; Margaret (Dave) Buse of San Carlos, CA; Joanne (Gary) Bruer of St. Charles, MO; Theresa (Mark) Boettler of St. Peters, MO; Betty (Steve) Oetker of Columbia, MO; and John T. Simon of New Melle, MO; special friend, Rich Eggering of Hawk Point, MO. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Reininger; infant brother, Thomas Simon; sisters-in-law, Sharon and Renee Simon; brother-in-law, Allen Boschert; father and mother-in-law, Leander J. and Loretta A. Vehige.

Mary Ann was an exceptionally generous person, she was giving of her time and would help anyone in need. She was very involved with 4-H as a project leader and sheep superintendent, it was and still is a big part of her entire family. She then served many years on the St. Charles County Fair Board as the treasurer. Mary Ann and her daughter Kathy began “Creative Stitches,” in 1987, then Mary Ann continued the business until recently. She was an extremely talented seamstress, she handcrafted beautiful dresses of all types. She appliquéd and embroidered shirts to sell at craft shows, then operated three commercial embroidery machines. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in New Melle. Mary Ann was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. 

Mary Ann donated her body to Washington University School of Medicine. A Celebration of Mary Ann's life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in New Melle with a Celebration Mass to begin at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Martin Funeral Home, 510 East Main Street, Warrenton, MO 63383.
