He grew up in Dardenne with his three siblings, Wilford, Luella, and Doris. Alvin worked at the gas station and restaurant that his mom and dad owned, where his mom made the best hamburgers around!

Alvin married the love of his life, Charmaine Bellamy, on May 17, 1952. They were married for 72 years! Alvin served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the military police. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. When he returned from the service, they settled in Wentzville, MO and joined St. Patrick Catholic Church. He served as an usher for many years. The family moved to Foristell after their children were born and continued to be parishioners of St. Patrick until they moved to O’Fallon, MO, in assisted living later in life.

Alvin was a past commander of the American Legion Post 323 in Wentzville. He and Charmaine enjoyed traveling and visited 49 of the 50 states. They took a cruise to Alaska, and finally, Alvin went to Washington, D.C., on the “Honor Flight” for his final trip in 2019.

Alvin was a packer at McDonnell Douglas conduction division and a bus driver and mechanic for specialty transit and St. Patrick and St. Dominic Schools. He was a hog farmer for many years and loved to listen to the hog report on KWRE while he drank his coffee at breakfast.

He built dressers for his children’s rooms. His hobbies included deer hunting, fishing, gardening, playing chess and guitar. He always enjoyed a good game of cards and coon hunting with friends.

Most of all, he loved his family to stop by and visit, especially for Sunday dinners. He loved his grandchildren and loved playing and talking to them. He loved driving the St. Patrick school bus after he retired because he just loved the children.

Al is survived by his beloved wife, Charmaine Post née Bellamy of Foristell, Missouri; his six children, Elizabeth (Dennis) Sheehan of Fenton, MO; Dianne (Timothy) Almeling of New Melle, MO; Alvin (Kathy) Post Jr. of Union, MO; Barbara Turpin of Jonesburg, MO; Carol (Kim) Farley of O'Fallon, MO; Scott (Sandra) Post of O'Fallon, MO; sibling, Doris Mae Clark of Wentzville, MO; sister-in-law, Alice Post; seventeen grandchildren, Brian, Craig, Amber, Jacque, Brent, Kyle, Leah, Tony, Dana, Drew, Brenda, Laura, Kory, Cameron, Kayla, Amy, and Jason; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
