Dorothy (née Huesemann) Biermann, 97, passed away peacefully at Breeze Park on Thursday, March 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Dot was a devoted and caring wife and mother of nine children. She married the love of her life, Paul, in 1948 and was married for 65 years before his passing in 2013. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake. Dot was a very talented seamstress. She made wedding and bridesmaid dresses, school uniforms for her children, Barbie doll clothes, and, in her later years, transitioned into making lap quilts. Dot and Paul were active in the St. Louis Polka Club for many years. She enjoyed her flowers and canned vegetables that Paul grew in the garden. Crappie and trout fishing were great pastimes for her, as well as playing cards with friends.
Dot was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary in Cottleville, where she helped with fish fries during Lent. As a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for 60 years, she served as coordinator of the funeral luncheons for many years. She also cleaned the church, assisted with the bulletins, and was the "Gravy Queen" at the church picnic for 39 years, making the gravy from scratch. Dot blessed those recovering from heart surgery with pillows she made. She also volunteered with the Emmaus Personal Enrichment Program.
The family thanks her dear friends for their support during her time at home after Paul’s passing. The “Golden Corral” gang and friends who picked up Mom and took her to Mass for many years.
A special thank you to the staff of Breeze Park for the loving care they provided and to the friends she made over the past four years at her new home. Thanks to Mary Ann McKay, a friend and therapist, who was a great support to our Mom. We cannot thank you enough for your kindness and friendship; it meant the world to all of us.
