Barbara Jane McFarland passed away on June 22, 2026. She was married to Michael McFarland for 52 years. Mother to Sean (Cera) McFarland, Jenny (Jeff) Scherr, and Kevin (Jen) McFarland.
Grandmother to Evan (Madison), Brendan, Cody, Cole, and Marcus McFarland, Madison and Molly Scherr, and Colin and Gavin McFarland. Daughter of the late Norman and Bernice Fitzler and sister to Ron (Margie) Fitzler, Dave (Lisa) Fitzler, and Cathy (Jon) Castner, sister-in-law to Jan Fitzler, and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ken Fitzler.
After graduating from nursing school, she worked at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Research Hospital until 1975. In 1985, after her three children were in school, she returned to nursing at the Pediatric Association in Florissant, for Dr. Wimmer and Dr. Hellweg, retiring in 1999. In 2002, she was a consultant for Birthwright in Wentzville.
She loved her family and loved caring for others. She loved spending time with her grandkids and would gladly put everything else on hold to enjoy their visits.
Memorial Visitation: Monday, June 29, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church-Weber Hall, 8 W Hwy D, New Melle.
