Asleep in Jesus Dorothy Ann Hemmer at her home on June 5, 2021, at the age of 82 years, with her family by her side.

She was the beloved wife of Reginald "Reggie" Hemmer of Wentzville, Missouri. Dorothy was born on July 20, 1938 in New Melle, MO to Alvin and Dora Grapenthin. She was a  Rural Postal Carrier from 1972 - 1999 and was a Homemaker and Caregiver to many.  Dorothy loved her family and cherished time with them.  She was most happy being a grandma.  She always wanted to make sure there was enough food for all. Dorothy was known for her angel food cakes, hamburger soup, and spaghetti.  Dorothy worked hard, was resilient and an inspiration.  Dorothy will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. 

She is survived by husband, Reginald "Reggie" Hemmer Sr., daughter,  Rebecca (Fowler) Murphy of Wentzville, Missouri;  son,  Mark Fowler of Wentzville, Missouri; daughter, Jodie Hemmer of Wentzville, Missouri; son, Reginald (Judy) Hemmer of Wentzville, Missouri; daughter, Lynn (Gary) McMeans of O’Fallon, Missouri; son, Michael (Nancy) Hemmer of Wentzville, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Tamara (Stacy) Gerard of Wentzville, Missouri,  Andrew Murphy (Jenna) of Wentzville, Missouri, Angela (Mike) Wagner of Columbia, Missouri, Brian (Bridgett) Hemmer of  Moscow Mills, Missouri, Gregory (Ange) Hemmer of Troy, Missouri, Peggy (Jamie) Wolfert of Portland, Oregon, Dwayne (McKenzie) Hemmer of Eureka, Missouri, Craig (Jenny) Schulte of O’Fallon, Missouri, Nicole (Steve) Dobbs of  O’Fallon, Missouri, Bradley (Mindy) Hemmer of  St. Paul, Missouri, Megan (Mark) Venable of Wentzville, Missouri, Kristen (Kevin) Schneider of Old Monroe, Missouri; thirty-five great-grandchildren, Jack Gerard, Sam Gerard, Brady Gerard, Carter Murphy, William Wagner, Alex Hemmer, Ethan Hemmer, Elizabeth Hemmer, Audrey Hemmer, Abigail Hemmer, Emmett Hemmer, Evelyn Hemmer, Zachary Hemmer, Kaden Hemmer, Leona Wolfert, Sage Wolfert, Rainier Hemmer, Bryson Hemmer, Owen Hemmer, Gavin Hemmer, Blake Hemmer, Lucy Venable, Sloan Venable, Cooper Venable, Georgia Venable, Chase Schneider, Henry Schneider, Caleb Schneider, Kennedy Schneider, Jacob Dobbs, Alex Dobbs, Joshua Dobbs,  Alaina Dobbs, Morgan (Schulte) Diederich, Emily Schulte. She is preceded in death by her father, Alvin Richard Grapenthin, mother, Dora Emma Thieman, Brothers, Lawrence Grapenthin, Ralph (Joyce) Grapenthin.   

Visitation: Friday, June 11, 2021, 4-8 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 150 W. Hwy. D, New  Melle, MO 63365. Funeral Saturday, June 12, 10 a.m. at the church, with interment in the church cemetery.
