John Charles Giesman was born to William and Blanche Giesman on January 16, 1924, in Wentzville, Missouri. He was the second of five boys. John grew up on the farm on which he was born and married the love of his life, Mildred Dwyer, in November of 1948. They had 52 amazing years together.
John worked for International Harvester for many years as a machinist where he was a Union Steward. John drove a truck for Fletcher Equipment and worked for the St. Charles County Highway Department. Upon retirement, John continued his lifelong passion for farming. His garden was known by many and it was nothing for him to send visitors home with a basket filled with fresh vegetables. He cared for his goats and chickens most of his life and loved the companionship of many dogs over the years including Mary (dec) and his beloved Danny who was John’s faithful friend until the end.
John is survived by his children Carolyn Shereretz (Charlie - dec,) Nelson McVey (Marsha Huff,) Brenda Padilla (Johnny,) and Ben Giesman (Shannon nee Bell,) two of his brothers Roy Giesmann and Frank Giesmann, grandchildren Sunny, Charlie, Jennifer, Sam, David, Julie, Paul, Kimberly, Stephannie, Callie, James, Candice, Cammi, and Madelyn, over 25 great-grandchildren and as of this writing, 4 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
John is preceded in death by his wife Mildred nee Dwyer, his daughter Bonnie Burton nee Giesman, his grandson Johnathon Padilla, his great-grandson Adrian Steinhauer, his brothers Bill Giesmann and Damon Giesmann, and his parents.
Per his wishes, John will be cremated and a celebration of life will take place around June 4th in Wentzville to allow for out-of-town family and friends to attend. Details on the exact time and location will be determined.
