Patricia C. Hespen

Patricia C. Hespen, age 91, of St. Ann, Missouri, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at SSM Health DePaul Medical Center in Bridgeton, MO.

Patricia was born on May 31, 1930, in St. Louis, MO., a daughter to the late Charles and Flora Cushing. Patricia was a 1948 graduate of Rosati Kain High School in St. Louis. On September 3, 1955, she was united in marriage to Donald L. Hespen at St. Louise de Marillac Catholic Church in St. Louis. Donald proceeded her in death on January 5, 1990.

In addition to being a fine homemaker and a superb financial manager of everything involving the home, Patricia worked as a teacher for a period of time. Patricia was a woman of great faith and a member of All Souls Catholic Church in Overland, Missouri. For many years she supported daily preparations for Mass as Sacristan for All Souls. She was also a member of the Legion of Mary and St. Anne Sodality Church groups and the Elderberries Social Club. She and her husband Donald enjoyed breeding and raising Basset Hounds and serving in volunteer roles in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts when the family was young. Patricia also delighted in gardening, playing cards, bingo, bowling, baking and traveling to Branson to see the shows. If you ever passed by the house, you could also see she loved to decorate for any holiday or special occasion.

Patricia is survived by: two sons and three daughters, Gerard (Jerry) Hespen and his wife Janet of Defiance, MO., Richard Hespen and his wife Diane of Pevely, MO., Jeanne Bono and her husband Jim of O’Fallon, MO., Barbara Russell and her husband Dan of St. Charles, MO., Elizabeth (Liz) Mesecher of Valley Park, MO.; 12 grandchildren, Jason Hespen, Joel Hespen, Nick Farace, Lee Mesecher, Jake Bono, Jessica Farace, Joe Bono, Tony Farace, Josh Hespen, John Bono, Jordan Hespen, Liz Farace; 13 great-grandchildren, along with many friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Patricia was preceded in death by three children, Gerard Lewis, Geri Anne and Michael John; two brothers, Gene and Charles Jr.

Services: Visitation at Ortmann Funeral Home, 9222 Lackland Rd., Overland, Wed., April 13, from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m., then to All Souls Catholic Church, 9550 Tennyson Ave., Overland, for an 11:00 a.m. Mass.
