Mark was one of the hardest-working men on earth; his work ethic could not be surpassed. While operating his equipment, he was in his element. Mark took pride in his work. He wanted to ensure a job was done right, even working into the late night hours. Mark did not let his physical disability deter him from accomplishing what he wanted. He loved his heritage. He cared to preserve and protect history. He had an excellent memory of any subject, especially family ancestry and growing up. He could tell you the year and month he built a fence or anything else, no matter how important or trivial. Mark’s friendship, vast knowledge and expertise will be greatly missed.
He revealed a fortitude that will long remain a source of inspiration through all that he endured. When you think of Mark, you think of the word perseverance – steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy A. (Grapenthin) Hemmer and her husband, Reginald F. Hemmer, Sr. and his father, William R. Fowler and William’s wife, Beverly.
