Frederick W. Luetkemeier


Frederick W. Luetkemeier was born in 1932 in Washington, MO to Frederick and Margaret Luetkemeier. Surrounded by his loving family, Fred passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, in Marthasville, MO at the age of 90 years.

Fred grew up in Washington, MO, where he attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School. He graduated from St. Paul's Lutheran High School in Concordia, MO, and continued his education to pursue a career in engineering. Fred graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering. After completing his undergraduate studies, Fred proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

Fred was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jeanne, on December 27, 1958, at the Church of Atonement in Florissant, MO. The couple made their home in Washington, MO, and their marriage was blessed with four children. They later settled in Marthasville, MO.

Fred enjoyed a successful career as an engineer. Most of his career was dedicated to architectural engineering, although he also worked in aeronautical design for some time. After many years of dedicated service to his profession, Fred retired from Fruco Engineers in 1990. In retirement, Fred took on various hobbies and interests that included fishing, learning how to make homemade wine, maintaining his fruit orchard, gardening, traveling the US and Europe with Jeanne and, most importantly, spending quality time with his grandchildren. He was a dedicated KU Jayhawks basketball fan. Fred was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Melle, MO. He was also a board member of the Concordia Seminary Historical Society.

Fred was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Jeanne, in 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law; one son-in-law, Greg Harris; his sister, Emma Lauck and her husband Bill; and one sister-in-law, Beverly Guenther and her husband Bud.

He is survived by four children: Fred Luetkemeier and wife Dana, Columbia, Linda Luetkemeier-Harris, Lake Sherwood, Michael Luetkemeier and wife Cynthia, Sterling, VA, Steven Luetkemeier; and wife Debra, Marthasville; seven grandchildren, Fred, Andrew, Jessica (Garrett), Jacob, Ram, Benjamin (Nicole), and Samuel (Ashley); one great-granddaughter, Emma; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Melle, MO.
Funeral: Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 12 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Melle, MO.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Washington, MO.
Memorial donations may be to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
