Sharon Demien

Sharon E. Demien, 81 years old, of New Melle, Missouri, passed away in peace on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at the Garden View Care Center of O’Fallon.


She was the daughter of Arthur E. and Francis W. Benne (Burger) and was born in St. Charles, Missouri. 

In 1958, she met her future husband, Harold Demien, they were married in 1960 and spent 63 wonderful years together. She is survived by brothers; Ronald A. Benne and Roy E. Benne (wife, Janice, deceased.) Together, Sharon and Harold raised three children, son Jeffrey (wife Carol), daughter Kimberly (husband Louis Gennaro), and daughter Lisa (husband David Briggs). Sharon had 15 grandchildren, Mathew Demien, Ryan Demien, Taylor Demien, Adam Demien, Brianna Hiles (deceased), Jennifer Tallman, Daniel Gager, Alisha Kelley, Emily Prine, Colton Greenberg, Ruger Greenberg, Tatianna Greenberg, Benjamin Briggs, Zachary Briggs, and Jessica Briggs. Sharon also was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren, Nathan Tallman, Olivia Tallman, Milo Gager, Georgia Kelley, Elizabeth Kelley, Madison Hiles, Autumn Hiles, Aspen Hiles, Aiden Cole, Riley Demien, Catherine Briggs, Beric Briggs, and Everett Briggs.

Sharon graduated from St. Charles High School in 1960. Later, she worked at Benne’s Lawn and Garden in St. Charles for many years beginning in 1976. She was also a long-time volunteer at Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid in Orchard Farm. She was an active member of the Reading Circle and worked in the Braille ministry for several years.

After moving to New Melle after Harold retired, Sharon was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Melle. She was an avid sewer and quilter and loved to cook and bake. She enjoyed time at the zoo and on the beach with her grandchildren, as well as baking them holiday treats.

Visitation: Saturday, December 2 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 150 W Hwy D, New Melle from 9 to 11 a.m.
Memorial Service: Saturday, December 2 at the church at 11 a.m. and a luncheon to follow. Memorial donations: St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Melle, Trinity Lutheran Church in Orchard Farms, or the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Missouri Chapter.
